Lakshadweep formerly the Laccadives, is a group of islands located at a distance of about 400kms from the west coast of Arabian Sea. The charm of the island archipelago is their remote pristine splendor which attracts leisure seekers and merrymakers to their shore. The densely covered coconut palms threaded by an unbroken line of creamy sand and bluish aqua all over depict the eternal beauty of Lakshadweep. The term Lakshadweep literally means Hundred Thousand Islands in Sanskrit. Unfortunately, Lakshadweep archipelago only have 36 islands in which 10 is inhabited, 17 uninhabited islands, 4 newly formed islets and 5 submerged reefs. The main attraction of these islands is in the fact that each island in its tiny principality has existed from time immemorial with little influence from outside world. The islands of Lakshadweep retain its culture and ethos of scant few places, still untouched by the madding crowd and pace of progress.
